Thanksgiving

November 24, 2009

Hello,

I am pretty excited that Thanksgiving is only a few days away.  It is always nice to get a few days off of work and to spend some extra time with family and friends.  I will be going to my parents house to watch football and eat all day.  The best part about Thanksgiving is getting to take all of the leftovers home and not having to cook for a week.  Enjoy your time off and have a great holiday!

Have you met with your advisor yet?

November 16, 2009

Registration can be hectic. There are classes to pick, transfer credit to update, schdeules to plan and the hope of graduating sooner rather than later. The New Student Advising Center is here to help you make your transition as a new transfer student as smoothly as possible. I’ve been meeting with our Spring 2010 transfer students and it’s always a HUGE relief when we hit the enroll button and all classes have been successfully added!!  This is the best time to registers since most classes are still available. So if you haven’t scheduled your advising appointment with you advisor, do so quickly. You’ll be glad you did!

Happy Monday!

November 16, 2009

Hello!

It’s Monday – but this week is already flying. My birthday is Thursday! I’ll be spending it out-of-state with a good friend. I’m quite excited. However, I have to get through today and Tuesday first. I have a midterm tonight and a paper due tomorrow! I’m feeling the stress before my vacation! Wish me luck! : )

Hope everyone has started registering for their spring classes! I registered for my new graduate school classes on Saturday. I love registering for classes, it gets me excited about the future!

If you have any questions about picking up your spring classes, let me know! Catch me by Tuesday before I leave!

November 10, 2009

Hello again,

All of this warm weather has me thinking about summer already….Cubs home opener, BBQ’s, beaches and air conditioning running all day long.  I am not a huge fan of winter, snow or the cold in general but unfortunately it has to be on its way.  Winter does have some good times to offer as well…Christmas, big family dinners, Hawks/Bulls games and the occasional football game in the snow.  This winter Benedictine will be doing some major work to the Rice Center (Athletic Building) which will include a brand new gym floor as well as many other upgrades.  If you are anything like me you try to hibernate in the winter but feel free to stop by campus and catch a game as well as see our new facilities.

It’s that time of year!

November 4, 2009

I was getting ready to leave work today when I realized that Christmas is next month and Thanksgiving is in 3 weeks.   Where did the time go? Seriously!  On my drive home,  I took stock of all the things that happened this past year (that which I could recollect): the birth of my son, having family from overseas visit, seeing good friends move away, family trips, fun birthdays, etc. It’s been good but I’m ready to look ahead and see what these next few months will bring as well (aside from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season). Fun times!

Speaking of looking ahead, I hope you are looking forward to your Spring semester at Benedictine University. Registration will be starting on November 9th and if you have any questions about classes please don’t hesitate to contact the New Student Advising Center. Our office assists all incoming freshman and transfer students. Please visit the NSAC Web site for more information. :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

November 3, 2009

万圣节快乐! (Kàn Shèng Jié Kuài Lè!)
(The same greeting in Mandarin Chinese, of course!)

Hello! It’s Lisa again, coming to you this time from Admissions. I am the new transfer counselor who works with incoming students from College of DuPage, Elgin Community College, Triton College and Prairie State College.

How was your Halloween weekend? Halloween is my absolute favorite!

I love pumpkins, apple cider, candy corn…COSTUMES! This year I dressed up like a pirate (but don’t tell my ninja friends). I had an amazing holiday and hope you did too. My friends had a party and they decorated their condo really awesome–and a little creepy! The weekend went by way too fast.

And guess what? It’s November! I can hardly believe it!

My birthday is in November…so I really like scarves, earrings, the color turquoise…are you taking notes? Just kidding! You know what else happens in November?

*dramatic pause*

Hello

October 26, 2009

It seems like so much is going on right now and time is flying by.  Halloween is approaching and before we know it Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years will be here and gone.  The weather seems to be changing on a daily basis and hopefully everybody is fighting the flu that is going around.  In between your busy schedules please come in and visit and remember that you have plenty of time to get admitted for the Spring 2010 semester.

Classes do not begin until January 18, 2010.

Decorating can be fun!

October 19, 2009

I’m looking forward to this week! My husband’s birthday is coming up and I’m planning to do my own version of a HGTV makeover to the basement (it’s his office and guy’s hangout). He’s always wanted a sports themed basement with his all time favorite teams- The Bears, Cubs and Purdue. What a combination of colors all in one room! Of course there’ll be something BU in there as well.  It should be a fun project for me!!  Wish me luck folks! :)

Campus Visits

September 24, 2009

The Spring 2010 semester will be right around the corner and it is time to start thinking about your next steps.  I will be visiting the local community colleges to assist you in the application process and course evaluations.  I also recommended that you contact me to set up a campus visit so we can discuss Benedictine in further detail.  Please contact your college advisor to see when I will be on your campus and contact me with any questions.
